Nigerian youths have been engaged on the need to shun anti social vices such as abuse of drugs, cultism, among others.
The Police Campaign Against Cultism And Other Vices(POCACOV), in it’s efforts to ensure a safer society organized a stakeholders forum with the aim of sensitizing the youths on need for them to stay away from anti-socio vices such as cultism and drug abuse among others.
The event with themed “Teenagers Stay Informed, Know The Dangers Of Cultism and Drug Abuse” was held at the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos State had in attendance motivational speakers, Royal Fathers, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Senior Police Officers, Captains of Industries, media practitioners and teenagers and children from several schools within Lagos State, among others.
The speakers at the event noted that all the anti social vices talked about still exist in our society, stressing that it is high time for individuals to rise above the menace and shun these societal ills that affect oneself and the society at large.
The Commissioner Of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, who gave the opening address, also spoke on the connection between these drug and cult vices and how it destroys young lives and leads to other lethal acts. He implored the teenagers to remain focused and live to be responsible citizens of the country as getting involved with drugs and cultism, ultimately can lead to untimely death and disgrace.
The National Coordinator of POCACOV, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, also addressed the teenagers, who were the key audience. She stressed on the need to shun all forms of vices especially as peer pressure can influence a teenager’s decision in life. Speaking further, she said that they were ambassadors and should carry a positive message and influence to their friends and peers.
