Pyrate’s Confraternity, PSN Join Global Celebration Of World Health Day With Free Medical Outreach In Oyo

IBADAN – In commemoration of World Heath Day, celebrated on the 7th of April, 2025, the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates’ Confraternity), Jolly Rogers Deck Oyo State Chapter, in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), organized a medical outreach.

The medical outreach took place at Oniyanrin Primary Health Center at Nalende, Ibadan, on the Wednesday 9th of April, 2025.

The medical outreach was an avenue for the Jolly Rogers Deck of the National Association of Seadogs and Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria to actively impact the reduction and prevention of maternal and newborn death, and also support women’s long-term health and well-being.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Adebowale Adeniji, the Cap’n of the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates’ Confraternity) Jolly Rogers.Deck, emphasized the importance of maternal healthcare services and investment in maternal and child health. He also admonished pregnant women to adhere to their doctors’ advice and follow medical recommendations.

Also speaking at the event, Dr. Adeniji Agness Bolanle, Guest Speaker (PSN), enlightened the pregnant women on the importance of a healthy pregnancy, emphasizing the need for a diet rich fruits and healthy foods, consistent adherence to prescribed medications, and the importance of promptly reporting any concerns or complaints.

Doctor Mathew Ayodeji Babalola (PSN) also spoke on why breastfeeding mothers should eat properly during pregnancy, nothing that it aids lactation after birth.

After the lecture, medical personnel from the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria took their time to have a one-on-one session with the pregnant women and provided personalized guidance on prenatal care, healthy habits and addressed individual concerns.

Concluding the outreach, the National Association of Seadogs, Jolly Rogers Deck, generously provided free consumables, including baby diapers to the pregnant women and also made a donation of these items to the Oniyanrin Primary Health Center to be dispensed at no cost to the pregnant women.
