Road Crash Claims Three Cops, Suspect In Ondo

ABUJA – Three among four police officers, who came from the headquarters of the Ondo State Police Command to arrest a female suspect in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state, on Thursday died in a motor accident.
The tragedy occurred when the driver of a trailer coming from Ijebu-Odu axis lost control, crossed the median and rammed into a police van conveying the four police officers and the female suspect in Ore.
The female suspect, yet to be identified, and the three among the four police officers died on the spot.
The remaining officer was immediately rushed to an undisclosed health facility in the town for medical attention having sustained serious injury.

Sources disclosed that the police officers were on the Monitoring Units of the state police command were said to have left Akure to make an arrest in the area.
Spokesperson to the state Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Ondo State Command, Samuel Ibitoye confirmed the incident.
He said the accident occurred as a result of overspending by the trailer driver.
The road traffic officer confirmed that the remains of the casualties were deposited in the morgue of state health facility in Ore.
