Tension In Kebbi As Land Grabber Destroys Crops Worth N30m, Seizes Plots Of Land

BIRNIN KEBBI  –  A suspected land grabber Mustapha Sani Zauro the son of a famous politician Alhaji Sani Zauro has allegedly destroyed the farms of no fewer than one hundred and eighty ( N180) subsistent farmers in Gulumbe village under Birnin Kebbi local government.

The spoke person of the affected farmers,Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Tafidan Gulumbe revealed that one Mustapha Sani Zauro came to their farmlands with a bulldozer and destroyed all the crops that have already germinated worth over thirty million ” we gathered in the so called seized and destroyed farmlands to call on Governor Idris to come to our aid because we know he is not aware and also he is not dictator therefore we are confident he will return the farms to us”

He added that the district head of Gulumbe and the local council Chairman not aware but they have informed them and they have written petition which they have submitted to the Police,emir of Gwandu and other relevant bodies.

Tafidan Gulumbe maintained that they are ready to defend their farmlands with the last drop of their blood because they inherited those farms from their great grand parents and have been farming there for over fourty years and those farms are the only means of their livelihood therefore can go to any length to retrieve them” we were not served any notice in writing or verbal an imposter claimed one of the wives of the governor are interested in the farmlands which we know he lied he just want to use their names to grab our farms and we are resisting it”.


The farmlands destructions had raised tension in the community as hundreds of them looked poised to take any action if the government didn’t act fast to avert blood bath.
