The Vice Chancellor of McPherson University (McU), a faith-based University situated at Seriki Sotayo part of Ogun state, Professor Francis Igbasan has expressed the university’s commitment to becoming one of the 5 top Universities in Nigeria.

Igbasan while fielding questions from journalists shortly after the official commissioning of hostel accommodation for students of the university noted that measures are in place to ensure that the university becomes one among the top five universities in the country in the next few years.

The blocks of hostels which can housed at least 72 students were donated to the institution by the Council of Foursquare Men (CFM) of the Foursquare Gospel Church.

The VC in his words expressed his determination towards making the university one of the top 5 universities in Nigeria before the end of his tenure as the Vice Chancellor of the institution adding that the university currently offers about 20 accredited courses.

Igbasan added that the newly commissioned hostels comprising of 72 bed spaces is expected to enhance learning as the school commences its new academic session this month , 9th of October.

While the VC however assured parents and intending parents of the university of the institution’s commitment to providing adequate security on campus.

Also speaking, the Visitor to the University and General Overseer, Foursquare Gospel Church, Reverend Sam Aboyeji explained that the project is meant to enable the students of the university learn in a conducive environment.

Adding that the project is one of the ongoing development plan of the church for the university.

“The significance of this project is that it is one of our ongoing development plan as a church for the University, just as the VC said that we are committed to making the University one of the top 5 Universities in Nigeria and the major thing needed is infrastructures, so we want the students to learn in a conducive environment.” Aboyeji said.

Also speaking on the security situation of the university campus, he as well assured parents that the university is safe for students , according to him the school is well equipped with CCTV coverage to monitor security of the institution.

While he gave the assurance that the public will hear more about the university in the next 3 years adding that the university is set to include more professional courses for students to study in the university.

Speaking on the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, call for the exclusion of Private universities from benefiting from Tertiary Education Trust Fund , TETFund interventions. Aboyeji stated that it will be very unfair to exclude private sectors from benefiting from TETFUND interventions, knowing fully that TETFUND money is made from taxes collected from private sectors.

He however added that it is a fair request for private institutions to benefit from TETFUND interventions.
