2023: Idris Ajimobi Commends Co-Contestants Over Withdrawal Of Suit***As Court Strikes Out Case Challenging His Candidature

Idris Ajimobi has lauded his Co-Contestants for withdrawal of suit against him.
Naijanewshub.com.ng reports that Alhaji Idris Abiola-Ajimobi, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Assembly candidate for Ibadan South-West Constituency II has commended his co-contestants for withdrawing suit against his candidature.
He made the disclosure in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Lateef Alade which a copy was made available to newsmen on Friday in Ibadan.
Abiola-Ajimobi, the son of late former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, said that the plaintiffs had demonstrated high level of maturity and loyalty to the party by withdrawing the suit they instituted against his candidature.
The candidate appreciated his co-contestants and party leaders on their interventions which led to the amicable resolution of the issue.
He assured all members of the party including his co-contestants of quality representation, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him.
A copy of the statement made available to Naijanewshub.com.ng quoted Hon. Idris Ajimobi as thus; “I assure our leaders, co-contestants, constituents and other members of the party that I will justify the confidence reposed in me through quality representation.
It would be recalled that Abiola-Ajimobi had won the party’s primaries on May 26 to contest the Ibadan South-West II State Constituency seat in the 2023 general elections.
The duo of Michael Famurewa and Olawale Ayilara, who contested the Assembly primaries against Abiola-Ajimobi had approached the court over the outcome of the primaries.
The court had struck out the case challenging Abiola- Ajimobi’s candidature after the duo of Famurewa and Ayilara withdrew the suit in his honour.
Recalled also that on Tuesday, Justice U.N. Agomoh of a Federal High Court Ibadan, Oyo state struck out a suit challenging the candidature of Mr Idris Abolaji Abiola-Ajimobi, son of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi after the same was withdrawn by the claimant who instituted the matter.
The case with suit number FHC/IB/CS/96/2022 was instituted by Mr Habeeb Balogun against the son of the late former governor of Oyo state and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on 10th June 2022.
Justice Agomoh, after hearing the submission of the claimant’s counsel, R.T.A Raji Esq, who was represented by John Akinwole Esq, in his intention to withdraw the suit, which was confirmed by Marvic Alpha LP, solicitors to Idris Ajimobi, Kazeem Gbadamosi SAN of the APC and Akerele of INEC, however, dismissed the suit challenging the nomination of the late governor’s son.
