Turaki-Led PDP Rejects Dissolution Of State Executives In Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo

ABUJA — THE Tanimu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the purported dissolution of the party’s elected State Executive Committees in Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo states, describing the move as illegal and capable of worsening internal divisions within the party.
The Tanimu-ler PDP, in a statement on Saturday by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, said it had taken note of what it described as an announcement claiming that the party’s elected leadership structures in the three states had been dissolved.
“We have seen a purported announcement of the dissolution of the elected State Executive Committees in Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo States,” the statement said.
The faction insisted that such a decision lacks legal backing and undermines ongoing efforts aimed at resolving internal disagreements within the party.
“This dissolution, which is illegal and unwarranted, is an affront to the proposed reconciliation for which talks are underway,” PDP stated.
According to the party, the move appears to be another attempt to widen existing rifts within the party at both the state and national levels.
“This further attempt to deepen divisions at the state and other levels is null, void and of no effect whatsoever,” the party added.
The Turaki-led group therefore called on party leaders and members in the affected states not to recognise or act on the directive.
“We urge the State Chapters, all officers of the party at the local government and ward levels, and indeed the public, to discountenance the said notice and continue to exercise their lawful duties,” the statement said.
The faction also clarified that its call for calm and reconciliation within the PDP should not be misinterpreted.
“For the avoidance of doubt, our desire for peace must be understood in the context of the need for the salvation of the party for the purpose of the forthcoming elections, and not misconstrued otherwise,” the statement added.
The development comes amid ongoing efforts by stakeholders within the PDP to resolve lingering internal disputes and reposition the party ahead of future electoral contests.
