The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Major General Bamidele Alabi has today, 22 November 2023 stated that the Nigerian Army cherish the relationship it enjoys with the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists.
The GOC also noted that Nigerian Army sees journalists as partners in progress as the Journalists have the responsibility to inform the country while the Nigerian Army has the responsibility to protect the country.
Major General Alabi made this statement while hosting executives of the Oyo State Council of the Nigerian Association and of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) at the Headquarters 2 Division Conference Hall, Ibadan.
He further employed the members of NAWOJ(Oyo State Chapter) to continue to support the Nigerian Army in her duties of internal security and protecting the territorial integrity of the country. This should be done by bearing in mind the national security implication in their reportage. In this vein, partnership and cross checking of facts will do a lot of good for both sides.
While making her remarks, the NAWOJ chairperson Comrade Jadesola Ajibola appreciated the GOC and his Staff Officers for the hospitality and support NAWOJ has continued to enjoy from the Nigerian Army, thanking the GOC and his Staff Officers for giving them the opportunity to visit.
She advocated for ‘solution journalism’ as key to resolving the gray areas between the NA and the Journalists in the country.
The highlights of the visit was presentation of souvenir and a group photograph.
