President Tinubu Presents ₦47.96trn 2025 Budget To NASS For Passage

ABUJA – President Bola Tinubu has officially presented the 2025 budgetary appropriation bill, approximately ₦47.96 trillion, to a joint session of the National Assembly.

The President, accompanied by his Vice, Kashim Shettima and other top government functionaries witnessed the presentation, at the Green Chamber on Wednesday.
Also present at the National Assembly were the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
Before the budget presentation, Senate President Godswill Akpabio delivered his opening remarks, highlighting key legislative priorities and expressing concerns over governance issues.
He stated, “We increased the 2025 budget by 50 percent. We have extended the 2024 to June 2025 and it will be brought before you soon.” Akpabio also emphasized the importance of accountability, urging Tinubu to ensure ministers honor National Assembly invitations.
Our reporter however observed heavy security presence at the National Assembly complex, with reinforcements from sister agencies.
All non-essential activities, including banking and food services, were suspended, and only accredited personnel had access to the legislative chambers.
Recall that the Federal Executive Council had earlier approved the budget’s estimated expenditure on Monday.
The budget figures standing at N47.96trn may go down history as one of the largest in Nigeria.
The Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, presided over the joint session.
