IBADAN – THE wife of former Akure Chapter Chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) and member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has appealed to security agencies to intervene and protect her family from ongoing threats of abduction.
The woman, whose husband is Comrade Ayobami Ogunlade, reported the incidents at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on July 22, 2025 expressing concern over repeated threatening phone calls she has been receiving.
According to her, the calls often come from private mobile numbers and inquire about her husband’s whereabouts.
“I am deeply worried. These calls keep coming, asking where my husband is. My husband has been on the run since December 2024, after he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt at his home in Ibadan by unknown gunmen,” she told journalists.
She further explained that since the attempted attack, she has been living in constant fear, often hiding to avoid further threats.
The former RTEAN chairman has remained in hiding since the December 2024 incident, citing threats to his life from unidentified assailants. The family is calling on the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies to ensure their protection and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“I have been living in fear ever since my husband escaped. I urge the security agencies to act quickly before anyone in our family becomes a victim,” she pleaded.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Police Headquarters in Iyaganku has yet to issue an official response to the complaint officially.
