Three Suspected Armed Robbers Apprehended In Ibadan

IBADAN – THE Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers in Ibadan, the state capital.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Olayinka Ayanlade, and made available to newsmen.
Ayanlade identified the suspects as Abdulrahman Rasheed, 19; Biodun Fatai, 18; and Muiz Salawudeen, 18.
According to the police spokesperson, operatives of the command intercepted an unregistered tricycle, popularly known as “Keke Maruwa,” which was allegedly used to convey the suspects during their operations.
He added that a locally fabricated single-barrel gun, modified into a short firearm suitable for easy concealment, was recovered from the suspects at the time of their arrest.
Ayanlade disclosed that the suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
“During interrogation by the Monitoring Unit, the suspects confessed to their involvement in several armed robbery incidents in Ibadan and other parts of Oyo State,” the statement read.
“They admitted to specialising in the snatching of mobile phones and motorcycles, as well as dispossessing residents of their valuables at gunpoint.”
The police spokesperson noted that the suspects are cooperating with investigators as efforts continue to dismantle criminal networks within the state.
