Junaid Joins Ibadan North Reps Race, Flags Off Campaign Monday

IBADAN — All is set for the official declaration of Hon. Dr. (Mrs.) Olamide Balikis Junaid as she joins the race to represent Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The declaration ceremony is scheduled to hold on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Police Divisional Training Ground, Yemetu, Ibadan.
The event is expected to draw party leaders, stakeholders, community figures, youth groups, and supporters from across the constituency.
Dr. Junaid, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), enters the race with a record of party loyalty and grassroots engagement.
Her interventions over the years have spanned key areas such as education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and social welfare.
Her initiatives include the distribution of palliatives during periods of economic hardship, sponsorship of health outreach programmes, and educational support schemes such as the provision of free JAMB forms and school bags for primary school pupils.

She has also provided business grants to market women and support to local artisans.
Party sources describe her declaration as a boost to the APC’s grassroots mobilisation efforts in Ibadan North, citing her accessibility, local connections, and sustained engagement with residents and party members.
They added that her candidacy could strengthen the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections by consolidating support among youths, women, and the wider electorate, while deepening its reach at the ward level.
Observers note that Dr. Junaid’s entry introduces a new dynamic into the race, with her profile as a grassroots mobiliser and advocate for development expected to resonate with a broad segment of voters.The declaration event is slated to commence at 12 noon.
