ABUJA   –   CELEBRITY barman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has responded sharply to Isaac Fayose following criticism of his open support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Fayose, a businessman and younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, had questioned Cubana Chief Priest’s decision to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration.

Reacting via his Instagram page, Cubana Chief Priest defended his stance, arguing that several state governors had already aligned with the President, making the criticism of his support unnecessary.

“Over 30 governors align and you are crying because an ordinary businessman aligned? Power pass power. As for me and my family, we have decided to stay with the moving train, Renewed Hope,” he wrote.

The socialite also addressed suggestions that he should remain neutral or join the opposition to advocate for the release of detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

“You want me to negotiate the release of Nnamdi Kanu by being in opposition? I have chosen my path which is “business and politics,” he added.

Earlier in the day, in another post on Instagram, Cubana Chief Priest stirred further controversy when he declared, “I will work against Peter Obi in 2027. Renewed Hope all the way!”

The post triggered significant backlash on social media, with opinions sharply divided. While some critics argued that his position was influenced by “money and power on the table,” others maintained that he has the right to support any political platform of his choice.

Notably, Cubana Chief Priest, alongside nightlife entrepreneur Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, was widely regarded as a supporter of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi during the 2023 general election.

The latest development underscores the fluid nature of political alliances in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape, particularly among influential figures in the entertainment and business sectors.
