Lagos State Government has arrested and paraded four suspected hoodlums over the continuous harassment of motorists in the state.
Naijanewshub.com.ng gathered that the Lagos state government in a statement by Mrs. Bolanle Ogunlola, the Deputy Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Transportation stated that the hoodlums were arrested at the Amuwo-Odofin Area of the state, while disguising as the officials of the State Government and harassing motorists who were carrying out their lawful business in the area.
Ogunbola gave the names of the suspects as Tunji Oyedeji, Allison Ozin, Taiwo Olubodun and Awotunde Ahmed.
The government also reiterated its stand on clamping down on miscreants in the state, vowing that it would continue its sting operations against the miscreants.
The Transport Operations and Compliance Unit of the Ministry of Transportation in February had apprehended a group of miscreants in Igando axis, while extorting a tipper driver on his way to offload sand.
The statement also quoted Dr. Frederic Oladeinde, the Commissioner for Transportation as condemning the act of the miscreants.
The commissioner stated that continuous arrest of these miscreants demonstrated the State Government’s resolve to ensure an enabling environment devoid of miscreants’ activities, stressing that the ministry would intensify its sting operations across the state with a view to taming these urchins whose actions hinder economic development.
Oladeinde noted that the suspects arrested had been handed over to the Lagos State Taskforce for further investigation and prosecution and warned others to desist from these illegal activities or be made to face the full wrath of the law in line with the state’s Transport Sector Reform Law 2018.
