The G5 governors are to attend Umuahia for Abia PDP Flag off campaign.
Naijanewshub.com.ng gathered that the Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will on Thursday, November 24, 2022, flag off its electioneering campaigns for the 2023 general elections in Umuahia, the state capital.
According to the State Zonal Chairman/Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Ama Abraham, the party will use flag off ceremony to present flags to candidates contesting for various elective positions in the 2023 general elections.
Addressing newsmen at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia, Ama maintained that the ceremony will be like a political fiesta that would bring together all the PDP faithful in Abia, the neighbouring states as well as Nigerians from different walks of life.
Those that are being invited, he disclosed, are staunch supporters of the state governor Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, who is the Abia South Senatorial candidate of the party and other PDP candidates.
He stated that invitations have also been extended to the PDP G5 Governors whom, he described as the ‘Integrity Group’. They are: Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State as well as the host governor and Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu.
The Abia State PDP Publicity Secretary explained that the 5G Governors would grace the event physically as a mark of respect and solidarity with their brother governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
Answering a question, Amah stated that Abia as a PDP state is not opposed to the candidature of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s Presidential candidate, pointing out that what it wants the former Vice President to do is to correct some abnormalities and one-sidedness that are glaring in the party.
