House Of Reps Endorses N1.814 Trillion Budget For FCT In 2025

ABUJA – The House of Representatives has approved a total of N1.814 trillion for the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) as its budget for the 2025 fiscal year.

This approval came during Wednesday’s plenary session following the presentation and consideration of a report by the Chairman of the House Committee on FCT, Rep. Mukhtar Betara.

The report stated: “That the House do receive the Report of the Committee on Federal Capital Territory on a Bill for an Act to Authorize the issuance from the Statutory Revenue Fund of the Federal Capital Territory Administration Account, the aggregate sum of N1,814,073,708,392.00 (one trillion, eight hundred and fourteen billion, seventy-three million, seven hundred and eight thousand, three hundred and ninety-two naira) only. Out of this, N150,353,906,168.00 is for Personnel Costs; N352,029,677,448.00 for Overhead Costs; and N1,311,690,124,776.00 for Capital Expenditure.”

The funds are to cater for the operations and development needs of the FCT between January 1 and December 31, 2025 (HB.2305).

The approved budget reflects an upward revision of N30.2 billion from the initial N1.783 trillion proposal submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It would be recalled that the President transmitted the proposed budget to the National Assembly in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, which was read during plenary on Tuesday, May 13.

The proposal had previously passed Second Reading on Tuesday, May 20
