Ibadan Stands Still As Carnival Radio Clocks 1

IBADAN – All roads lead to the Oyo State NUJ Press Center, Iyaganku, Ibadan, this Thursday, February 27, 2025, as top media professionals gather to celebrate the first anniversary of Carnival Media Limited, a renowned radio outfit based in Ibadan.
The milestone event, scheduled to commence at 11 a.m., will feature a special goodwill gesture, where veteran journalists from various media houses in Ibadan and its environs will receive donations to support their welfare. According to the Chairman and Founder of Carnival Media, Alhaji Ademola Bakare, beneficiaries have been drawn from several media organizations, including the defunct Sketch Newspaper, Nigeria Tribune, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), and National Television Authority (NTA), Ibadan, among others.
A highlight of the event will be a keynote lecture delivered by Mr. Oluwafisan Bankale, a seasoned media executive, former editor of Daily Sketch, and ex-ECOWAS Focal Point for the International Advisory Board on Small Arms. He will speak on the topic: ‘Security Issues in Nigeria: A Panoramic View.’ The lecture will be delivered under the distinguished chairmanship of Assistant Inspector General of Police, Oyeyemi Oyediran Adesoye, PSC, FSI.
Mrs. Oluwakemi Ajayi, a retired Assistant Director of Programs at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), will anchor the event, while the General Manager of Carnival Media, Mr. Adejare Bamidele, will serve as the host.
Alhaji Ademola Bakare, the Chief Host and Chief Executive Officer of Carnival Media, is a veteran journalist whose dedication to the profession spans several decades. As a former reporter and editor of the tourism and tour page for the defunct Sketch Newspaper, his passion for journalism remains evident in his work and leadership.
The anniversary celebration is expected to attract key players in the media industry and serve as a platform to recognize and support veteran journalists while reflecting on the evolving landscape of journalism in Nigeria.
