Governor Dapo Abiodun has been declared winner of governorship election in Ogun state.

Naijanewshub.com.ng reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, the winner of Saturday’s election in the State.

The state returning officer, Professor Kayode Adebowale, said Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress, APC, scored 276, 298, to defeat his closest rival, Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who scored 262, 383 voted.

Biyi Otegebeye of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, came distance third with 94, 745 votes.

Meanwhile, the PDP has called for rerun of the election over violence and cancellation of results in many areas of the state.

Oyejide Sunkani, the state PDP agent had protested the announcement and acceptance of results from Sagamu local government.

Armed with a petition signed by the Secretary of the Party, Dr Sunday Solarin, the party alleged that the results from different wards from Sagamu was not the true representation of what happened at the local government.

“All what was said is at variance with the record we have here. However, if it is found to be correct, INEC has seven days to review its decision,” Professor Adebowale said.
