Kebbi School Attack: HoR Speaker, Tajudeen Demands Immediate Response From Security Agencies

ABUJA – THE Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has slammed the abduction of 25 schoolgirls from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga in Kebbi State, calling the attack “unfortunate, gruesome, and despicable” and urging security agencies to act swiftly to rescue the students.
The raid occurred in the early hours of Monday in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, where armed men stormed the school.
The attackers reportedly killed the school’s vice-principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and a security guard who resisted the assault.
Tajudeen emphasized that schools should be among the safest places in the country, stressing the need for a coordinated and rapid response from the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies to secure the safe return of the abducted girls and apprehend those responsible.
He extended his sympathies to the families of the victims and reaffirmed the House of Representatives’ commitment to supporting government efforts to strengthen security in schools and protect young Nigerians.
“This trend of attacks must be urgently contained to protect our children and safeguard the future of our nation,” the Speaker said, urging immediate action to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The abduction underscores the persistent security challenges in northwestern Nigeria, where attacks on schools have become a recurring concern for authorities and communities alike.
