Makinde Names Fasina New Oyo HoS, As Oni Bows Out Of Service

IBADAN — GOVERNOR Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved the appointment of Mrs. Adenike Ayobami Fasina as the new Head of the State Civil and Public Service following the retirement of Mrs. Olubunmi Olufunke Oni, mni.
The appointment was confirmed in an official letter issued by the Office of the Head of Service and contained in a statement dated May 29, 2026, with reference number HS.8/S.1/T2/113.
Mrs. Oni bowed out of service upon attaining the mandatory retirement age in accordance with extant civil and public service rules and regulations.
A valedictory and retirement programme was organised in her honour by the Forum of Administrative Officers of Oyo State on Friday at the House of Chiefs, State Parliamentary Complex, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
According to the statement, Governor Makinde approved Fasina’s appointment to take over the leadership of the state’s civil and public service.
Fasina, who hails from Eruwa in Ibarapa East Local Government Area, joined the Oyo State Civil Service as a Statistician II in 2000 and rose steadily through the ranks to become Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance before her latest appointment.
Widely regarded as an experienced administrator, she has played key roles in public finance management and civil service administration within the state.
The new Head of Service is a member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, and belongs to several professional bodies.
She is also a two-time recipient of the Oyo State Merit and Productivity Award in recognition of her outstanding service and contributions to the state’s public service.
Her appointment is expected to further strengthen ongoing reforms aimed at improving efficiency, productivity and service delivery across government institutions in Oyo State.
Meanwhile, Governor Makinde has also approved the appointment of 20 Executive Secretaries and General Managers across various ministries, departments and agencies in the state’s civil and public service.
The appointments, according to the statement, are part of efforts by the administration to enhance administrative coordination and improve service delivery across the public sector.
