Makinde Vows To Empower Women With More Interventions

IBADAN – His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde has assured women of his administration’s commitment to bring various interventions, training programs and poverty allocation for women in the state.

The Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and social Inclusion, Honourable Oluwatoyin Balogun stated this while addressing women focused NGO at the quarterly engagement of Women focused NGOs with the Honourable Commissioner on Friday, 30th May, 2025 at the state Secretariat.
She said the ministry is lifting the people from poverty to prosperity and lifting 4 million families during the tenure of His Excellency with self sufficiency programs aimed at making life meaningful for people.
She expressed the readiness of the ministry to support women focused NGOs to address issues affecting women, promote strong inclusion among women groups, ensure best practices among and foster sustainable collaboration among women focused NGOs.
She said the interventions is expected to be segmented into various groups to ensure that women are not left behind and uplifting women and girls across various communities.
She noted that His Excellency, Governor Seyi makinde and his wife, her Excellency, Engr Mrs Tamunominini Makinde have been supporting women in the area of skills, vocational training, economic empowerment, healthcare outreach, educational support and various poverty alleviations through the ministry of Women Affairs.
Also speaking at the event, the resource person, while presenting a paper on the need for coordination and collaboration among women focused NGOs.
Mrs Toyin Ogedengbe called on the NGOs to work together to share information, data and resources, saying uncoordinated interventions will not yield expected results for women in any society.
