Makinde’s Aide Looses Goods Worth Millions Of Naira In Ibadan Inferno

IBADAN – Tragedy struck the Senior Special Assistant to The Executive of Governor of Oyo state, Engr Seyi Makinde on Community Relations (Igbo Community) Hon. Tallest Innocent as goods worth millions of Naira was destroyed when his wholesales distribution center was engulfed in flames Saturday evening.
The center which is located at Alafara community, via NIHORT Iletuntun Shonshon road Ibadan was reported to have went up in flames at about 7pm in the evening though the cause of the unfortunate incident is yet to established.

It took the intervention of the Oyo state fire service command who arrived at the scene upon information of the situation reaching them to safe the fire from extending to other region of the market.
Despite the intervention of the men of the fire service department, goods worth millions of Naira was completely burnt down as the plastic drinks and beverage drinks stocked up for the Yuletide season were completely destroyed.
The Governor’s aide recounting his loss, thanked the fire service department of the state for their intervention to quench the blaze.
He said, “I received a distress call from neighbors and passerby that my shop was on fire, I quickly called the fire service department of the state and as you know, the fire station is a bit far from here, they arrived at the scene and assisted immensely to put off the flame, from causing further damage.
“As you can see, this is a distribution point for beverage drinks and this is the season of Christmas, I recently stocked up the shop with goods worth millions of Naira and nothing was picked out of it, not even a pin, everything is gone completely”.
Some of the passersby who joined efforts to contain the spread of the fire before the arrival of the fire service men said they had made efforts to prevent escalation of the inferno by pulling out nearby shops and adjoining houses but could not stop the damage due to the thickness of the fire.
