Ogun Police Deny Knowledge Of Alleged Shooting Of Comedian, Broda Shaggi

ABEOKUTA — THE Ogun State Police Command has said it cannot confirm reports alleging that popular comedian and skit maker Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, was shot in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.
This clarification followed media reports claiming that the entertainer was hospitalised after he was allegedly shot while filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge on Sunday afternoon.
According to earlier reports, the circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting remain unclear.
A source had claimed that the content creator sustained a gunshot injury during a skit production at the location.
The source further claimed that the comedian was immediately rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State, where he received initial medical attention.
However, in a press statement issued on Friday, the Ogun State Police Command said it had no record of such an incident within its jurisdiction.
The statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babasiyi, noted that no police formation in the state had received any report regarding the alleged shooting.
“The Ogun State Police Command wishes to address reports alleging that the entertainer Broda Shaggi was shot within Ogun State. For clarity, the Command cannot confirm that such an incident occurred anywhere within its jurisdiction.
“Additionally, no such incident has been reported at any Police formation across the State,” the statement read.
The Command added that investigations had nonetheless been initiated to verify the claims and ascertain the true circumstances surrounding the report.
It also urged members of the public to rely only on official police communication while the investigation continues.
“The Command remains committed to the safety of all residents and the maintenance of law and order across Ogun State,” the statement added.
