Olatunji Donates N100,000 Each To Victims Of Ayetoro Market Fire

IBADAN – THE Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has provided financial support of N100,000 each to traders affected by the fire incident that ravaged Ayetoro Market in Ward 3 of the council.
The presentation took place on Thursday, January 1, when the council chairman hosted the leadership of Ayetoro Market, victims of the inferno, and community leaders at his private residence in Sanyo, Ibadan.
It will be recalled that Ayetoro Market was engulfed by fire on November 19, 2025, leading to the destruction of goods worth several millions of naira and leaving many traders in distress.
Presenting the cash support, Olatunji said the intervention was aimed at cushioning the economic impact of the fire outbreak on the affected traders and assisting them to recover from their losses.
He expressed sympathy with the victims and urged traders to always observe safety and precautionary measures in their business premises to prevent future fire incidents. The council chairman also called for collective prayers against a recurrence, especially in view of the prevailing economic challenges in the country.
Speaking on behalf of the traders, the Babaloja General of Oluyole Local Government, Alhaji Mukaila Onirin, commended Olatunji for what he described as a timely and compassionate intervention.
Onirin praised the chairman’s inclusive style of governance, noting that his administration at the grassroots reflects the leadership approach of Governor Seyi Makinde in Oyo State. He pledged the continued support of traders and marketers in the local government to the Olatunji-led administration.
Also speaking, the spokesperson for the affected traders, Mrs. Abiodun Adeyemo, expressed surprise at the speed and sincerity of the intervention, describing it as a departure from the usual conduct of politicians.
She described Olatunji as a “talk-and-do” chairman and prayed for divine guidance and strength for his administration.
Dignitaries present at the event included the Ayetoro Joint General Communities Chairman, Alhaji Abideen Afolabi; Babaloja of Ayetoro Market, Oloye Omogboye Isiaka; Iyaloja of Ayetoro Market, Oloye Afolasade Ojolowo; Leader of the Oluyole Local Government Legislative House and Ward 3 Councillor, Hon. Taofeek Azeez Iwo, as well as other members of the Ayetoro community.
