The Returning Officer, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof Kayode Adebowale has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Mr Biodun Oyebanji, winner of the Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.
Oyebanji won in 15 out of the 16 Local Governments in Ekiti State with a total votes of 187,05i to defeat his closest rival Engineer Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 82,209 while Otunba Bisi Kolawole garnered 67,457 votes.
Adebowale, who announced the results in Ado, said Oyebanji, having scored the highest number of votes and won more than two-third of the election in 16 Local Government, is hereby declared winner. Kolawole also won his Efon Local government.
The APC governorship candidate polled an aggregate of 187, 057 votes to lead Chief Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, who came distant with 82, 209 votes to emerge second, while Bisi Kolawole of the People’s Democratic Party PDP scored 67, 457 votes to emerge third.
