Oyo Govt Unveils Comprehensive Programme For ‘Vibing December’ Festivities

IBADAN – THE Oyo State Government, in collaboration with various private and corporate partners, has released the full schedule of events for Vibing December, also known as Faaji December—the month-long festival aimed at ending 2025 on a vibrant note and ushering residents into the new year.
Speaking at a press conference held on Monday at the Cultural Centre, Ibadan, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Wasiu Olatubosun, said the initiative is designed to create extensive business opportunities for residents throughout the yuletide season.
Olatubosun emphasized that the festivities would not be limited to Ibadan alone, as simultaneous events have been planned across various zones of Oyo State. He assured the public that adequate security measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property before, during and after the celebrations.
According to him, the carnival and its associated events will run from December 1, 2025, to January 2, 2026, transforming the state into a hub of cultural celebration, entertainment and tourism.
Highlighting key activities, Olatubosun disclosed that Nigerian Breweries PLC will host its Legendary December experience, featuring beer villages at designated centres from December 4, 2025, to January 2, 2026.
D Fantasyland will stage a variety programme at the Recreation Club open field in Sabo, Ibadan, from December 24 to 26, while the University of Ibadan open field will host the Ojude UI celebration on December 20, alongside artistes’ hangouts and musical concerts.
The month-long lineup will also feature an Amala cuisine exhibition organised by the Amala Festival on December 6, as well as the Ogbomoso Cradle Carnival, slated for December 18 to 22 by the Ogbomoso Community.
“The Oyo Durbar is set for December 27, while the Amaland Festival and Atewolara Festival will both hold at the National Museum, Aleshinloye, Ibadan, on December 14,” the commissioner added.
He further revealed that JAGZ Hotel and the Hoteliers Association will host a series of variety shows and Hotel Vibes events throughout the festive season. The programme also includes the Faaji Cruise on the Eleyele River—featuring celebrity appearances and organised by Royal Cruise Entertainment—as well as a fashion exhibition by Ibadan Fashion Rising.
Representatives of participating organisations, including popular Nollywood Yoruba actor Kunle Afod, were also present at the briefing and highlighted their respective contributions to the celebrations.
The entire Vibing December carnival is expected to be formally launched in the first week of December by Governor Seyi Makinde.
