IBADAN   —  THE Oyo State Police Command has assured residents of adequate security of lives and property before, during, and after the Easter celebration.

This assurance was contained in a statement issued in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.

According to the statement, the Command has put in place comprehensive and intelligence-driven security measures across the state to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration.

“In anticipation of the forthcoming Easter celebration, the Oyo State Police Command has put in place comprehensive, strategic, and intelligence-led security deployments across the state to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festivity,” the statement read.

It added that the measures align with the policing vision of the Inspector-General of Police, aimed at strengthening public safety and boosting citizens’ confidence.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, поздравulated Christians on the occasion of Easter and urged residents to embrace the virtues of love, sacrifice, humility, and peaceful coexistence as exemplified by Jesus Christ.

He also encouraged citizens to reflect on the lessons of Lent and offer prayers for the peace, unity, and progress of the state and the country.

Reaffirming the Command’s commitment, Olugbenga stated that security agencies are working in synergy to ensure maximum coverage of critical locations, including worship centres, recreational facilities, major highways, and other public spaces.

He stressed the importance of community participation in policing, calling on residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.

“Accurate and timely information remains the fuel upon which effective policing thrives,” he said, urging residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency channels.

The Commissioner also appreciated the Inspector-General of Police for his leadership and continued support, noting that it has enhanced operational effectiveness within the Command.

The Command, therefore, wished all Christian faithful a peaceful and joyous Easter celebration.
