IBADAN – Despite the current economic challenges facing the country, film enthusiasts in Ibadan.over the weekend flooded the Viva Cinema, Palms Mall, Ring Road, Ibadan, Oyo State Capital to catch Omoni Oboli’s latest release, ‘The Uprising: Wives On Strike 3’.
This highly-anticipated movie marks Oboli’s return to the industry after a five-year hiatus.
‘The Uprising: Wives On Strike 3’ boasts an impressive cast, including Hilda Dokubo, Kiekie, Chioma Akpotha, Uche Jombo, and May Yul Edochie, making her stunning debut. The film masterfully weaves together emotions, humor, and cinematic brilliance, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.
Inspired by Nigeria’s recent experiences, including the #EndSARS protests, the movie sheds light on the country’s current state and resonates deeply with audiences. Oboli’s work is a testament to her skill as a producer and scriptwriter, showcasing her ability to craft compelling stories that captivate and inspire.
The movie’s success is a beacon of hope for Nigeria’s film industry, demonstrating the power of cinema to unite and uplift, even in challenging times.
According to the Stephen Oluboyo a Content Creator Manager who was on ground with his crew to ensure smooth viewing of the film noted that “The Uprising: Wives On Strike 3” is a film that everyone should see.
He said, “This is a film that touches everything that happens in our society, it highlights things we are going through in the country and it also create solutions to it as well.”
While speaking about the turnout at the Viva Cinema, Palm Mall Ibadan, Stephen said, “the turn out is so good and impressive, the film is a suspense film, you won’t see the twist and turns coming, you will cry, you will laugh, and that’s what make it somehow different to other films people have watched.
“Despite the fact that everything is hard in the country one still need to come out and unwind that’s why the cinemas are there for us to go in order to do away with depression, this is an avenue where you can come to relax, one need to have something to cheer up with and that’s why the cinema is there for us, though sometimes it can be expensive that why we are having a voucher system so you can go to the www.theUprising.ng to buy your tickets, people are also buying the tickets for fans to come and watch the film, so if you cannot afford it, somebody is out there willing to buy for you.” Stephen said.
The content creator guru also charged government at all level to always support the creative industry.
He said, “We need the support of the government in our entertainment space, almost all the producers are making films from their pockets and this is very difficult, we want to even challenge the Hollywood but our producers don’t have the resources to do it so government needs to come out and support the entertainment industry by giving them the needed opportunity for them to thrive.”
In their separate remarks, Ronke Giwa Onafuwa, an Ibadan based On Air Personality (OAP), author and movie enthusiast, Ayo Emmanuel a broadcaster and a movie analyst commended Omini Oboli for the job well done.
Ayo Emmanuel said, “I’m here for the fact that omoni Oboli is a name that synonymous with excellent in movie industry and also for my love for Ibadan because Ibadan has been relegated for a lot of time when it comes to this part of entertainment but our people are now coming out to watch their favorite movies at cinemas. So I can say I am here to show love, support them and to tell them that good things are actually happening here in Ibadan and I can say that we are actually getting there.
