Police Nab Lady For Allegedly Shoplifting Goods Worth Over N10M

KATSINA — A suspected notorious thief that specialises in shoplifting in marketing environments within the Katsina metropolis, has been arrested for allegedly stealing goods worth over ₦10 million.
DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command in a statement on Friday, said this followed a report from the Chief Security Officer, Green House mall on March 4th, 2026.
It explained that the suspect was captured on CCTV footage at Green House Katsina, where she was seen dishonestly stealing various items from a shop.
The statement added that while analysing the CCTV footage, the suspect, one Hadiza Ibrahim , 27 year old was closely monitored, leading to her arrest at the scene.
Upon arrest, during investigation, a search was conducted at the residence of the suspect, and the following items
274 sets of shoes, 37 pairs of veils, 67 sets of sportswear, 54 sets of children wear, 123 pairs of cap, 315 sets of socks, 45 pairs of women’s wrappers amongst others were recovered.

Similarly, one sack containing various cooking seasonings and spices, among other exhibits were successfully recovered from the suspect’s possession.
Investigations, the statement maintained, revealed that the suspect has a history of shoplifting and theft, as she has confessed to the commission of the offence. The suspect has been charged in court for diligent prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, while commending the operatives for a job well done, advised shop owners to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to secure their businesses against such criminals.
He reassured that the command remains committed towards ensuring the safety and security of lives and property throughout the command.
