IBADAN   —  A 2027 House of Representatives hopeful for Ibadan North-East/Ibadan South-East Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Sanusi Ridwan, popularly known as “STRIKAH,” has urged Muslim faithful to strengthen their spiritual lives and remain hopeful despite prevailing economic challenges.

Ridwan gave the charge during a Ramadan lecture organised by the Engr. STRIKAH Foundation at Mapo Hall, Oja’ba, Ibadan, as part of the foundation’s annual Ramadan programme.

The 1447AH/2026 edition of the programme featured a lecture titled “Finding Hope Amid Economic Hardship,” focusing on the role of spirituality and moral discipline in navigating difficult economic realities.

As part of the programme, the foundation also distributed food items to over 2,000 residents across Ibadan in Oyo State.

Speaking at the event, Ridwan said the annual Ramadan lecture and food distribution initiative was aimed at supporting residents during the fasting period while also encouraging them to strengthen their spiritual lives.

He noted that the programme had become a yearly tradition of the foundation, combining spiritual enlightenment with humanitarian support for the people.

“This is what I do every year through my annual Ramadan lecture which I organise at this same venue, Mapo Hall, where we bring thousands of people together,” he said.

“It is an opportunity for people to listen to lectures because one thing I always tell people is that they must always give the spiritual part of their lives some time. They must listen to lectures that will guide their lives.”

Ridwan added that beyond the spiritual aspect, the foundation also provides food support to help ease the economic burden on residents during Ramadan.

“We are also here to make some distributions. It is a form of empowerment through which we provide rice and other essential items to between 1,000 and 2,000 people to support them during the Ramadan period,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to residents who attended the programme, noting that many of them had also participated in previous editions.

“I appreciate everyone who is here today because many of them were also here last year. We are here to give and support our people,” he added.

Delivering the main lecture, Dr. Sheik Hammad Ol’anrewaju Alful’anny Al’adaby highlighted the spiritual significance of Ramadan and urged Muslims to use the period to strengthen their relationship with God and promote peace in society.

He described Ramadan as a period of spiritual purification and urged Muslims to imbibe the values of compassion, patience and generosity.

Also speaking, a guest lecturer, Alhaji Abdulkareem Abdullah, encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful despite the current economic difficulties, noting that faith and collective support among citizens could help stabilise society.

In his remarks, the Special Guest Speaker, Sheik Nurudeen Abdul Kareem, emphasised the need for religious teachings to guide social behaviour and foster unity and moral discipline within communities.

Chairman of the occasion and Chairman of the Ibadan Community, Alhaji Chief Mustafa Adebayo Oyero, commended the foundation for its continuous support to residents, particularly during the Ramadan period.

The highlight of the programme was the distribution of food items to beneficiaries drawn from various communities in Ibadan North-East and Ibadan South-East Local Government Areas.
