Nigerian Army has called for commendation for all the security agencies in the country from members of the general public over their efforts in sustaining peaceful and conducive society for all and sundry across the country.
Naijanewshub.com.ng reports that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 2 Division Nigeria Army Headquaters, Adejunke Fajuyi Cantonment Oojo Ibadan, Major General Takuti Muhammed Usman made this on known on Friday while addressing journalists who were on courtesy visit to the 2 Division Headquaters.
Major General Takuti Muhammed Usman in his address stressed that the Nigerian Army will continue to put in its best to secure the country for peace to reign
Maj-Gen. Mohammed Usman in his words said, “The media need to be fair in their reportage and always balance their stories.”
He further said, “Journalists need to report accurately about the security situation in the country and efforts of the security agencies in tackling the menace.”
He said, “the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in the state and Nigeria in general are determined to put in their best for the protection of lives and property of citizenry of Nigeria.”
The GOC, however, called for a working synergy from the media and other stakeholders in the country in order to effectively discharge their duty and serve the country better.
Maj-Gen. Usman said, “The Nigeria Army and other security agencies in the country needed commendation and not condemnation from members of the public due to their unrelented effort of sanitizing the country.”
“You the media have your call and we have our call which is to secure the country, we are not saying you should not do your job but be professional in doing so.”
“It is better we have cordial relationship with one another,we are better being friends than not to be friends. It is always better and good for investigative journalism.
“We did our best during the last general election and that was why there was peace in the country before,during and after the election.”
“We will continue to do our best and remain loyal to the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the betterment and development of the country,” Usman said.
Earlier, speaking on behalf of journalists in the state, Femi Amusan,from AIT, said the visit was to build on the existing relationship between the media and the Nigerian Army.
Other highlights of the visit include presentation of the plaque, signing of the visitors record book, group photography session, among others.
