Two Killed In Rivers Community, As Beheaded Body Of Youth Leader Recovered By OSPAC

PORT HARCOURT – GUNMEN suspected to be cultists have killed two persons, including the President of the Omoku Youth Federation, Comrade Ifeanyi Azuazu, in Omoku, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State.
The attack occurred at about 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at a popular pub along Ogolo Street, off Palace Road, Omoku.
The assailants, said to be about seven in number, reportedly arrived in two vehicles and targeted the youth leader.
Eyewitnesses said the gunmen upon accosting Comrade Azuazu ordered him to enter their vehicle at gunpoint.
During the incident, his aide, Chigozie Oluwu, attempted to intervene and was shot dead by the attackers, who later whisked away the youth leader to an unknown location.
The incident caused panic in the area, forcing residents and passersby to flee, while business owners hastily shut down their shops to avoid being victims.
However, on Friday afternoon, the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area Security and Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC) recovered the headless body of abducted youth leader in a forest in Omoku.
Confirming the development, OSPAC spokesperson in ONELGA, Mr. Godnews Nkem, said Oluwu was killed during the attack, while the youth leader was murdered after his abduction.
He urged residents to remain calm and allow the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to conduct investigations aimed at arresting the perpetrators.
When contacted the Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command, CSP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the ugly development.
CSP Iringe-Koko asserted that the killing is cult related and the Commissioner of Police,CP Olugbenga Adepoju has ordered a full scale investigation into the incident with a view to apprehending perpetrators.
