Yoruba Nurses In Diaspora To Support Ogun Residents With Free Healthcare Services

IBADAN – THE Yoruba Nurses in the Diaspora are set to host a free healthcare outreach back home in Nigeria as part of their commitment to improving citizen health and wellbeing.
A partner to the initiative, who is also the founder of Shokesta Development, Oluwakemi Abiodun Soyebi in a chat with newsmen in Ibadan on Saturday noted that the outreach which has been scheduled for December 16 will also provide a wide range of free medical services to the public.
Oluwakemi Abiodun further noted that the Yoruba Nurses of North America is bringing a free health outreach to Ogun State under the 2025 theme, “Gateway to a Healthy Life.” featuring essential medical services, screenings, and health education to residents who need medical attention, reinforcing the nurses’ dedication to giving back to their roots through compassionate care.
She said, “residents will benefit from screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose levels, and visual acuity, helping with early detection and prevention of common but serious health conditions that often go unnoticed.
“Beyond screenings, the program will also focus on health education and awareness. Sessions on breast cancer awareness will highlight the importance of early detection, while basic mental health education will help reduce stigma and promote emotional wellbeing.
“Education on malaria prevention and infection control will further empower individuals with practical knowledge to maintain healthier lifestyles.
“The medical mission will be held in Remo, Ogun State, and will extend its reach to other parts of the state, including Yewa, Egbaland, and Ijebu communities. This broad coverage ensures that people across different regions of Ogun State, especially those with limited access to healthcare, can benefit from the initiative.
“Members of the nursing team will be fully involved in patient consultations, screenings, and health counseling, working tirelessly to attend to everyone who needs medical attention.
“Their presence reflects a strong spirit of unity and service, as professionals in the diaspora return home to support their communities with expertise and compassion.” Oluwakemi maintained.
