Police Nab Notorious Suspected Counterfeit Currency Fraudster

KATSINA – The Katsina Police command has arrested a notorious suspected fraudster, Sanusi Ahmed, 25, who specializes in circulating counterfeit currency notes.
DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the state Police Public Relations Officer disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Katsina on Monday.
According to him, on 8th May, 2025, at about 1600 hrs, based on credible intelligence, the Katsina Police Command succeeded in arresting a notorious suspected fraudster, Sanusi Ahmed, male, age 25, of Sokoto Rima quarters, Katsina State, who specialised in circulating counterfeit currencies.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the suspect’s residence, situated at the above mentioned address, three hundred and forty-five (345) pieces of counterfeit 100 USD denomination, Five (5) pieces of counterfeit 10,000 CFA, Two (2) bottles containing suspected criminal charms, One (1) empty bottle of perfume, and One (1) piece of white cloth were recovered.
He said the suspect is currently in custody as the investigation proceeds with a view to identify and arrest his accomplice(s).
CP Bello Shehu, the state Police boss in a swift remarks, commended the efforts of the operatives and the public for their continued support and cooperation in the ongoing fight against all forms of crime and criminality.
He further reaffirmed the commitment of the command towards ensuring the safety and security of the people of Katsina State.
In a related development, the command has arrested over 200 suspects for various crimes and recovered numerous exhibits.
DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said twenty-five suspects were arrested for armed robbery, fifteen suspects in connection with a suspected case of kidnapping, thirty other suspects in connection with a suspected case of murder/culpable homicide, while three suspects were arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and two hundred suspects in connection with offences not mentioned above.
He said exhibits recovered include, two locally made Dane guns, two suspected stolen motor vehicles, two suspected stolen motorcycles, 174 suspected rustled animals and rescued over 130 kidnapped victims.
Other items recovered, the Police image-maker disclosed include, 114 Pieces of Exzol Tablets, 8 pieces of Tramadol tablets, 55 pieces of D5 Tablets and 78 bags of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.
“These achievements would not have been possible without the support of the Katsina State Government and the good people of the state. We appreciate their support, collaboration and assistance in our crime-fighting efforts to maintain law and order”, he added.
He however, solicited for more support and cooperation from the members of the public to enable the command to improve on these successes.
