Gov AbdulRazaq Clears 16-Year Salary Backlog For Kwara United Players

ILORIN- In a historic move, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has announced the full payment of a long-standing N201 million sign-on fee owed to Kwara United players and coaches, clearing a salary backlog that dates back 16 years.
Speaking at a reception in Ilorin for athletes who represented the state at the 2024 National Sports Festival in Ogun State, the governor described the payment as part of his administration’s commitment to repositioning sports and prioritizing welfare.
“This again underscores our commitment to the welfare of all, including our athletes and coaches,” the governor said, noting that the gesture builds on years of infrastructure upgrades and strategic investments in sports development.
The announcement drew applause from stakeholders and sports enthusiasts who hailed the administration’s responsiveness and record-breaking efforts in clearing inherited debts.
