Police Arrest 20-Year-Old With Suspected Human Part, Nab Two Robbery Suspects In Ibadan

IBADAN — THE Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old man, Garuba Aminu, for allegedly being in possession of a suspected human part in Oyo town, while also apprehending two suspected robbers in Ibadan following intelligence-led operations.
In a statement issued on February 21, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Command disclosed that the suspect was arrested at about 8:00 a.m. on February 20 at the Commercial Oroki area of Oyo.
According to the statement, Aminu allegedly disguised as a scavenger but was noticed by vigilant residents due to his unusual behaviour.
“The suspect, who disguised as a scavenger, was strongly suspected by vigilant members of the community due to his strange movements and conduct,” the police said.
The statement added that residents searched him and discovered “a cut lower right leg suspected to be a human part” concealed inside a sack filled with waste plastic bottles.
Upon receiving the distress report, a joint patrol team reportedly moved swiftly to the scene where an angry mob had gathered.
“Our operatives, in collaboration with other security partners, professionally dispersed the mob and rescued the suspect from imminent harm. The suspected human part was recovered as exhibit and secured for forensic and investigative purposes,” the Command stated.
The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
The police warned against jungle justice, stressing that “members of the public are strongly cautioned against taking laws into their hands or engaging in mob action, as such acts are unlawful and capable of obstructing justice.”
In a separate operation in Ibadan, the Command arrested two suspects, Elijah Teejay, 21, and Ottu Emmanuel, 33, over alleged robbery activities along Elebu-Oja, off Alao-Akala Expressway.
The arrest followed credible intelligence from residents about hoodlums allegedly robbing passersby in the area.
Acting on the tip-off, operatives of the Anti-Counterfeiting and Fraud Unit conducted surveillance and apprehended the suspects.
“A search conducted on their person and belongings led to the recovery of two toy pistols and some illicit drugs, which were immediately secured as exhibits for investigation,” the police said.
The Command disclosed that the suspects allegedly confessed during interrogation to multiple robbery incidents within and outside Oyo State.
“These individuals, who operate across state lines, have reportedly caused significant havoc in many communities, dispossessing victims of their valuables and instilling fear among residents,” the statement read.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Haruna, directed that the suspects be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.
The Command also expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his continued support and leadership in strengthening intelligence-led policing nationwide.
