FRSC personnel has been warned to avoid anything that can lead to litigation against the corps.

Naijanewshub.com.ng gathered that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned its personnel to avoid doing things in the discharge of their duties that could lead to litigation against the corps.

ACM Uakhemen Ojeamiren, FRSC Zonal Commanding Officer (ZCO) in Charge of Oyo, Osun and Ondo, gave the warning on Thursday during an official visit to the Oyo State Sector Command of the corps.

He said that there were already several legal action instituted against the agency as a result of actions of its personnel in the discharge of their duties.

Ojeamiren expressed the displeasure of the Acting Corps Marshal, Dauda Biu, to the development and advised the personnel to nip any ugly situation in the bud before it escalates.

The zonal commanding officer also urged the officers to always be civil when interacting with motorists on the road in order to reduce issues of dispute and litigation against the corps.

“Most disputes escalate because we are unable to find a way around it at the initial stage, try as much as possible to be civil in your activities, be comport in your operation and play by the rules.

“We have operational guidelines and you must work in tandem with it with a view to minimizing litigation against the corps,” Ojeamiren said.

The ZCO also appealed to motorists to always obey rules and regulations and stop whenever FRSC officials flag them down.

“It is better for you to stop and hear what they want to say, it may be that they want to give you information that criminals are ahead and if you don’t stop you could work into the hands of those criminals,” he said.

Ojeamiren commended the FRSC Head of Operations in the state, DCC Olalekan Morakinyo, for his efforts at educating those staff posted for operation on the road.

The FRSC sector commander in the state, Joshua Adekanye, appreciated the Zonal Commanding Officer for his visit and highlighted the achievement and challenges of the command that needed urgent attention.

Adekanye said that a total of 57 offenders were arrested during the recently concluded Special Operation and include drivers with vehicles with faded and foreign number plates and right hand-drive.

He said that the operation would soon be extended in to all parts of the state such as Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso and Oyo town.

The sector commander called on all unregistered motorcyclists to get registered in order to prevent their motorcycles from being impounded.
