Renowned Islamic Scholar urged Oyo Muslims to vote for Makinde.

Naijanewshub.com.ng reports that barely one week after the Turaki adini of oyo state and Wakil faido Tijaniya of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta state, Engr. Abduljeleel Adekunle Kareem; Mogaji Adanla’s endorsement of Governor Seyi Makinde, a renowned Islamic Scholar, Professor Kamil Olosho has also urged Muslim Ummah in the state to vote for the governor as a show of appreciation.

Recall that Mogaji Adanla who’s a popular Islamic leader in the state had endorsed Makinde for second term last week at a media chat with journalists at his private residence in Ibadan, declaring that contrary to what he described as malicious, wicked, and false religious propaganda of victimizing muslims in the state, Governor Makinde, who is a Christian has benefited muslim community than all previous muslim governors.

In a similar development, the Wakil (Speaker of Muslims) muslims who doubles as the Financial secretary of Leagues of Imams and Alfas in Oyo state, Professor Olosho, while delivering his address to muslim Ummah at the Ibadan Central mosque, Oja’ba during Makinde’s visit on Tuesday (today) made the appeal.

Makinde’s Omituntun 2.0 campaign train had visited the popular mosque as part of its political campaign activities to solicit the support of the muslim community in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The Islamic scholar while speaking premised his appeal for Makinde’s reelection on the governor’s numerous achievements particularly in the areas of muslims’ welfare and wellbeing in the state which according to the scholar, are too numerous to count.

Speaking in similar vein with Mogaji Adanla, Professor Olosho while commending Makinde, urged Muslims in the state to vote for Makinde saying they could only show appreciations to Makinde’s benevolence by using their Permanent Voters Cards (PVSs) to reelect the governor for another.

The popular Islamic scholar also said that by voting for Governor Makinde’s reelection, muslims in the state would be showing gratitude for all his supports towards the welfare and wellbeing of muslims in the state.

Speaking further in native Yoruba language, Professor Olosho also praised the deputy governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal for his unrelenting efforts for the muslim community including assisting the league of imam and alfas in the payment of salaries of their staffs and others.

“As tough as things are presently in the country, governor Makinde is taking good care of Alfas. This government is about winding down but we want the governor to do another term, why? because he has performed very well.

“Teachers, civil servants, pensioners, retirees, even LAUTECH students, lecturers, and management staffs can never in their history forget governor Makinde, as well as his deputy, Barrister Bayo Lawal.

“I want to appeal to you all to get your PVCs ready to vote in the coming election. And don’t forget that with everything governor Makinde has done for the Muslim community, it is only by voting for him that you’ll be showing your appreciations to him.

“Just as the governor is doing excellently well especially within the muslim community, so also is the deputy governor. Our mosque that you’re all looking at over there, it is the governor that gave the order for its renovation and also funded it. So also is his effort in this particular hall we are in right now.” Prof Olosho said.

While appealing to Makinde to help Quranic schools in the state secure syllabus for Islamic academic learning in both primary and secondary schools from the National Board for Arabic Studies, the scholar noted that such move would aide proper learning of Islam by well trained and qualified Islamic teachers in public schools.

He also appealed to governor Makinde to consider more qualified muslims for appointments into state government ministries, departments, and agencies in order to further develop the state inclusively while assuring of the support from muslim community in the state.

The governor while responding acknowledged and appreciated the role of the Islamic leaders in providing stability for the present administration saying the requests made have already been accommodated in the Omituntun 2.0 and will be adequately addressed in due time.

He maintained that his administration appreciates the beauty of Nigeria’s religious diversity which was why his government adopted the all inclusive approach to governance assuring that his government will continue to formulate policies and programs that engender and depend religious harmony in the state.
