The Police in Katsina state has neutralized five suspected bandits, rescued over one hundred kidnapped victims and recovered six hundred and fifty-eight rustled animals.

ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the command public relations officer disclosed this while parading some of the suspects before newsmen in Katsina on Friday.

He said a total of about 51 cases of major crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, culpable homicide, cattle rustling amongst others were reported and 30 cases were also charged to court.

The Police Public Relations Officer added that, a total of sixty-four suspects were arrested in connection with other similar cases of murder and rape during the period under review.

According to him, a total of nineteen suspects were arrested for various offences such as criminal force, intimidation, inciting disturbance, theft and belonging to gang of brigands amongst others.

He said the command in collaboration with members of the vigilante in Bakori arrested a trio of Mohammed Usman, 30, of Mangu LGA of Plateau state, Usman Yahaya, 35, of behind Emir’s palace quarters, Bauchi state and Samaila Mohammed, 30 of the same address in connection with a suspected case of motorcycle snatching.

Aliyu maintained that, nemesis caught up with the syndicate when a report of their nefarious activities was received through a good Samaritan at about 20:00 hours, criminally conspired and drugged one Saminu Rabiu, a commercial motorcycle rider and made away with his Bajaj motorcycle valued at six hundred thousand naira.

During the course of investigation, he said the suspects who were trailed and arrested confessed to the commission of the offence and further mentioned one Danfo of Kano state, now at large as their accomplice.
