Ibadan Rainstorm Wreaks Havoc: 2 Dead, 2 Missing, Properties Worth Millions Destroyed – NEMA

IBADAN – Following the heavy downpour that led to flash flood in some areas in Ibadan, Oyo state capital especially in Ibadan South-West and Oluyole Local Government areas on Tuesday, 24th September, 2024, the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA says two persons were confirmed dead.
NEMA Southwest Zonal coordinator, Mr Kadiri Olanrewaju disclosed this while briefing stakeholders on the effect of the downpour after an assessment tour of Ibadan South West and Oluyole local government areas.

The agency in collaboration with Oyo state Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, and the Nigeria Red Cross Society carried out the on the spot assessment of the affected communities.
He also disclosed that the flood disaster affected residential buildings, shops, noting that property worth millions of naira were destroyed while many persons were displaced.
He said “Unfortunately, Two (2) deaths were recorded while Two (2) persons are still missing.
The NEMA South West Zonal Coordinator however sympathized with the affected persons, appealing to residents to take proactive measures during raining seasons.
