Senator Teslim Folarin has berated governor Makinde for prioritizing motor parks and garages over educational Infrastructures.

Naijanewshub.com.ng reports that the governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oyo state, Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin has berated Governor Seyi Makinde for prioritizing motor parks and garages over educational infrastructures in the state.

The three term senator also described the working condition of journalists under Makinde led administration as appalling and unacceptable, thereby promised a better welfare packages for the members of the pen profession in the state if elected the governor of the state at the forthcoming general elections.

Speaking at a ‘Guest Forum’ organized by the correspondents’ chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Oyo State council, Senator Folarin who is currently representing Oyo Central in the Senate stated that journalists deserved better welfare in view of the pivotal role they play in the development of the state.

Folarin while answering question from journalists at forum said, “”It is only in Oyo State that motor parks and garages are better than schools. A situation where motor parks and garages are better than schools is unacceptable”.

He further said, “PMS is alien to the law. There is nothing like PMS. It is unconstitutional. We know NURTW. On my first day in office, the first thing I will do is replace PMS with NURTW. PMS will go.

”I don’t have any fear over NURTW. They will be generating money for the government. Thirty-three out of 36 in the education ranking is bad. Fifty schools delisted by WAEC is bad. The first thing is to declare a state of emergency in education and other sectors.” Folarin said.

Senator Folarin however expressed his displeasure over the attitude of the governor to journalists in the state.

He said, “If elected as governor of the state, my administration will form a symbiotic partnership with journalists for the development of the state, assuring that journalists welfare will be accorded priority.”

“it was unbefitting for journalists’ union not to have an office to meet and interact as professionals in the state, I’m assuring the journalists of a befitting structure as office unlike the current situation where they lack a good office. The role of journalists is very critical to the development of the state.”

“A governor who knows his onions must accord journalists dignity they deserved as partners in progress.” Folarin said.

Senator Folarin who was accompanied to the state correspondents’ chapel by Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebokan, Alhaji Sina Alabi was received by the Chairman of the Chapel, Mr. Raji Adebayo and other exco members.

Earlier in his welcome address, Mr. Raji Adebayo stressed that the Guest Forum was part of his campaign promises to make the chapel great.

He said, “Today’s event is a fulfillment of one of the promises made when I was campaigning that I will make the Correspondents Chapel great and vibrant with the calibre of people that would be featuring on our Guest Forum, and here we are, with the help of God and people like Alhaji Kehinde Olaosebikan, who is not only my personal person but big boss; YSO Olaniyi, media aide to Senator Foalrin and my good friend, Wasiu Olawale Sadare, who was my class and course mate at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, who is the APC Publicity Secretary in Oyo state. These are the people that made it possible for me to bring before you our Senator Teslim Kolawole Folarin. I thank you all for the support.”
