IBADAN  —  THE All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that its House of Representatives primary elections in Oyo State were conducted peacefully and without rancour, describing the exercise as orderly across the 14 federal constituencies in the state.

Chairman of the APC House of Representatives Primaries Election Committee in Oyo State, Prof. Mojeed Alabi, made this known on Saturday while addressing journalists at the party secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

Alabi, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primaries, noting that there was no record of violence or major dispute during the exercise.

According to him, the committee was mandated to supervise the elections, collate results, and ensure compliance with the party’s guidelines before forwarding its report to the national leadership of the party for final approval.

“Our responsibility is to superintend over the process, collate results, ensure that things are done properly, and transmit our report to the national executive of the party,” he said.

“It is the national leadership that has the final authority to declare the results.”

He explained that the primaries were not conducted at a central venue but simultaneously across wards within each federal constituency in line with the party’s established procedures.

Alabi stressed that the committee remained committed to transparency and fairness throughout the exercise, adding that members were conscious of the scrutiny and oversight from the party’s national leadership.

He advised aggrieved aspirants or party members dissatisfied with the process to channel their complaints through the party’s appeal mechanism.

“We are committed to transparency, fairness, and doing what is right within the limits of available logistics,” he stated, adding that the exercise was conducted without bias or favouritism.

The committee chairman further reaffirmed the party’s commitment to strengthening internal democracy, describing the successful conduct of the primaries as part of APC’s preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, the Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo, commended the committee for its conduct and urged members to ensure a process acceptable to all aspirants and stakeholders across the state.
