Oluyole PDP Stakeholders Endorse Ajao As Consensus Reps Candidate For 2027

IBADAN — LEADERS and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State have unanimously endorsed Mr. Akinsomi Ibrahim Ajao as the party’s consensus candidate for the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision was reached at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday at the Anfani area of Ring Road, Ibadan, with all aspirants in attendance.
The meeting, convened in line with directives from Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, and the party leadership, brought together political leaders, elders, and members of the PDP executive in the local government.
To ensure transparency and credibility, the endorsement process was reportedly observed by heads of security agencies in Oluyole Local Government.
Reading the communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the PDP leader in Oluyole LG, Dr. Gbola Adetunji, said Ajao, who hails from Ward 5, emerged after an extensive consultative process.
According to him, the process was designed to ensure inclusiveness, fairness, and adherence to democratic principles.
“The Oluyole Local Government leaders and stakeholders have resolved to nominate Mr. Akisomi Ibrahim Ajao as the consensus candidate for the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections,” the communiqué stated.
The stakeholders noted that all aspirants underwent a thorough screening process and demonstrated commitment to party unity and discipline.
In a show of solidarity, the aspirants pledged loyalty to the party leadership and the state government.
Party leaders described the consensus arrangement as a strategic move to strengthen internal cohesion and avoid disputes often associated with primary elections.
They expressed confidence that the decision would enhance the party’s chances in the forthcoming polls.
The stakeholders also passed a vote of confidence on the Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, commending his leadership and grassroots political engagement.
Among those present at the meeting were the Commissioner for Works, Hon. Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola; a former chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Mr. Olaide Settle, who was also an aspirant; and Hon. Waheed Akintayo, a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly.
In a related development, party stakeholders had earlier endorsed Akintayo for a second term as the PDP consensus candidate for the Oluyole State Constituency seat.
Party insiders expressed optimism that Ajao’s emergence would galvanise grassroots support and position the PDP for victory in the 2027 general elections.
