Oyo 2027: Adegoke Dumps PDP For ADC

IBADAN — A prominent Ibadan chief and philanthropist, Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke (FCA), has officially resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which may reshaped the political landscape in Oyo State.
Olooye Adegoke was a gubernatorial aspirant in the party before his resignation.
In a resignation letter dated March 2, 2026 and addressed to the Ward 10 Chairman of the party in Ibadan South West Local Government Area, Adegoke cited the “intractable political crisis and problems” within the party as the major reason behind his decision to leave.
According to the letter, the internal challenges within the PDP have the potential to truncate the political ambitions of many loyal members, a development he said necessitated his immediate resignation.
“On the back of the intractable political crisis and problems bedeviling the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which are capable of truncating political ambitions of members, I hereby resign my membership of the Party with immediate effect,” the letter read in part.
Despite his departure, Adegoke expressed gratitude to party members in Ward 10 of Ibadan South West Local Government for their support and cooperation during his time in the party.
Political observers note that Olooye Adegoke’s exit could significantly reshape the political dynamics within the state, given his influence as the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, a respected business figure, and chairman of Solutions 93.9 FM in Ibadan.
His resignation has already sparked speculation across the state’s political circles about his next political move, with many wondering whether the influential Ibadan chief will align with another political platform ahead of future elections.
But Daily Independent had it authoritatively that the Ibadan-born political big weight is moving to African Democratic Congress (ADC) to pursue his gubernatorial ambition.
As of the time of filing this report, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State has yet to release an official statement regarding the development.
