Oyo Assembly Removes Deputy Governor From Office

Oyo State House of Assembly has removed Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan from office.

The decision was reached after the lawmakers presented and considered the recommendation of the seven man panel set up by the Chief Judge, Munta Abimbola to investigate the Deputy Governor over allegations of gross misconduct.

The impeachment according to the house takes immediate effect.

According to the report of the committee presented during Monday plenary, the Deputy Governor was found guilty of all the allegations leveled against him by the seven man panel.

All the 23 PDP lawmakers at the plenary voted in support of the recommendations of the panel.

The House has adjourned sitting to reconvey at 12noon today.
