Police Confirm Abduction Of Four At CRIN Ibadan, Rescue One, Launch Manhunt

IBADAN   — THE Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of four persons at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN), Ibadan, with one victim already rescued.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday, March 18, noting that the incident prompted an immediate response from security operatives.

According to him, the police swift response team successfully rescued one of the abducted individuals, while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining three victims.

He added that the rescued victim has been taken into protective custody and is currently undergoing debriefing to aid ongoing investigations into the incident. The victim’s vehicle was also recovered during the rescue operation.

Ayanlade further revealed that the Commissioner of Police has directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to reinforce security at the Idi-Ayunre Divisional Police Headquarters.

The directive includes the deployment of additional tactical teams to support the Divisional Police Officer and other personnel already on ground in the area.

Security operatives have since commenced an intensive bush combing operation across surrounding communities in a bid to track down the suspected kidnappers and rescue the remaining victims.

The police assured residents that the operation would continue until all those responsible for the abduction are apprehended and the victims are safely released.
