Titi Atiku Expresses Confidence In INEC, Canvasses For Women’s Active Participation In Politics

Hajia Aminat Titi Atiku Abubakar has expressed confidence in INEC to deliver a credible elections.

Naijanewshub.com.ng reports that the wife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Hajia Aminat Titi Atiku Abubakar has on Monday expressed her  confidence in National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to produce a free, fair and credible elections at the forthcoming polls.

The wife of the former vice president also educated women on the need to be more active in politics, most especially as election period is getting closer by the day.

Mrs. Titi Abubakar made this known on Monday in at the Emeritus Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, UCH  Ibadan, the Capital City of Oyo state during the South West Zonal Female Town Hall Meeting.

Mrs. Atiku in her address charged women attendance to troop out en-mass and vote for the presidential candidate of the the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the forthcoming presidential elections scheduled for February 25.

She also used the occasion to canvass votes for all the gubernatorial candidates under the platform of PDP come March 11.

Mrs. Titi Atiku Abubakar who was accompanied to the venue of the town hall meeting by a serving senator from Ekiti South, Senator Abiodun Olujimi, elder sister of Osun State Governor, Mrs. Dupe Adeleke Saani, Hajia Aisha Ibrahim, Mrs. Nike Adebutu, Mrs. Jemibewon, Mrs. Olusola among others was hosted by a PDP chieftain in Oyo state and a former Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Oloye Jumoke Akinjide, the South West PDP youths Mobilizer, Mrs. Bolanle Sarumi, and hosts of others.

In her address, Mrs. Titi Abubakar said, “women are active voters in Nigeria, that is why I have been going round to brought everybody together, I came to Oyo for the rally, we went to Ogun, my husband went to Ekiti I was not there, we went to Ondo and we went to Osun, and tidy we are we are having our zonal meeting town hall meeting and I believed that the six states that made up the south west are all present here, I brought you a message from my husband because I’m here to sell my husband to you as the presidential candidate of the PDP.”

“I have been with my husband for over 50 years that we’ve married, and we are still counting and I’m here to come and present myself to you to see that he has feed me well and that is why I’m so bold to stand in front of you because my husband has done me well, and I have the right and the audacity to stand before you to present my husband to you, my husband Alhaji Atiku Abubakar wants to unify Nigeria, he want to bring back the glory that Nigeria once enjoyed, he wants to bring it back, Atiku wants to rescue Nigeria, Atiku want to restore, Atiku wants to rebuild, Atiku wants to restructure Nigeria so that we can all have a better living.”

“Atiku has gave out his five points agenda which he called my convenant, and you know if you enter a convenant with God, God will surely do that convenant for you, and what I want are those things, Atiku said he wants to unify Nigeria, which means he want to unite Nigerians so that we become one country, Atiku want to end the insecurity issues in Nigeria, Atiku want to educate the populace, Atiku want devolution of power because he believes that the power at the center is too much, so he want to decentralize it up to the unit level, and before he can achieve it, it is for you, all of us in this hall, everybody seated in this hall need to do the needful, and what is that the needful, it is for us to get our passports which is the PVC,.so if you have not collected your PVC go and do so now.”

“Get your PVC ready, and on 25th of February which is the D-Day that you’re going to the polling units and after you might have done with your registration when you are going for thumbprint don’t use your thumb to thumbprint, use your pointer finger instead, that is the finger you must use for thumbprint, and after that our elderly women can go home while the adult ones should stay behind because that is when the rigging start but the INEC has promised us that this time around there is not going to be any rigging, but nevertheless you have to be battle ready, and you must follow them bumper to bumper.”

“You have to tell your neighbours, your friends, family members, even your house maids, you need to educate them, take them along with you while going out to vote, because we want a better future for our children and children yet unborn, don’t let them abuse us, let makes a better future for them from now.” Titi Abubakar said.

In their separate remarks, Chief Mrs. Jumoke Akinjide, Dupe Adeleke Saani, Senator Olujimi, Bolanle Sarumi, Nike Adebutu and others called for women’s participation in active politics.

They all urged all the participants at the zonal meeting to go back to their various jurisdictions to canvass for votes for all the PDP candidates at the forthcoming elections.
