2 Div GOC, Obinna Onubogu Receives Oyo DSS Director, Says Security Agencies Must Ensure Peaceful, United Nigeria

IBADAN – The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Obinna Onubogu, has said that efforts of security agencies should be geared towards ensuring a united and peaceful Nigeria.
He maintained that the security agencies must ensure that Nigeria remains one, united and peaceful.

The GOC, stated this on Tuesday 22 October, 2024 at 2 Division Headquarters, while receiving the State Director of Security (SDS), Department of State Services, Oyo State Command, Rasheed Adelakun, who was on a courtesy visit.
General Onubogu, appreciated the SDS, for visiting, noting that the synergy and cooperation from his team have remained major contributing factors to the relative calm situation in Oyo State.
He laid emphasis on the incidences of Yoruba nation agitation as well as activities of bandits within the state and environs, noting that all recorded successes were as a result of effective synergy and collaborative efforts amongst the NA, the state DSS and other security agencies.
He said, “I am really glad that you are here, as I believe that the combined and main effort of all relevant security agencies in the state is to ensure that Nigeria remains one, united and peaceful”, the GOC added.
He urged the new SDS, to bring his vast experiences to bear in Oyo State in order to ensure improved security within the state and beyond. “On our part, we are always ready and willing to support all efforts towards ensuring that security is well improved and sustained”, the GOC concluded.
Earlier in his remarks, the Oyo State DSS Boss, stated that his aim of visiting the GOC, was in line with tackling the dear need for improved security within and beyond Oyo State. He expressed deep appreciation to the GOC for accepting to host him and for the warm reception given to him and his team. He said the visit was necessary, and also afforded him the opportunity to familiarise with personnel of the Division.
He said, “I am here to reaffirm the commitment of the DSS to work closely with the NA and the military in general, in a bid to fostering effective cooperation and collaboration in areas of operations and other administrative matters. I am here this morning to pledge that I will not only maintain the existing synergy and cooperation established by my predecessor; rather, I will consolidate on it reasonably.”
He added that information will be shared timely with effective cooperation and collaboration in order to foster a well secured environment, conducive enough to foster the needed atmosphere for peace, security and stability; and for improved economic growth and development in Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
